TMI Tuesday: September 27, 2011

This week’s TMI Tuesday questions were the idea of blogger Virtual Sin.

Gone Hollywood

1. If a screenwriter turned you into a character in a movie,
a. What stock Hollywood character would it be most like? For example: best friend, ditzy blonde, absent-minded professor, captain of industry, etc.
b. What actor/actress would play you?

I like Katherine Hepburn in "Bringing Up Baby"--flighty, smart, and speaks her mind. In most of her movies with Spencer Tracy (8 films total) Katharine was independent, a career woman, and a challenge yet lovable. That's me.

Who would play me? If I have to cast an actress of African descent, then I would say Sanaa Lathan. Although, the saucy sexy Helen Mirren would be perfect except that she's 21 years older than I.

2. What genre of movie is your life most like? For example: romantic comedy, goofball comedy, spy, coming of age, action/adventure, sci-fi, etc

My life is sort of like a goofball comedy, with a mystery at the center, and some serious drama thrown in every 10 years or so.

3. What kind of scene in a movie would you like to play most? Why?
a. Argument
b. Love scene
c. Gun fight
d. High-speed car chase

Most definitely an argument, especially if I get to be clever and pithy. I shall pass on the love scenes they are usually boring and as we have heard, on set they are not romantic or sexy. Gunfight-- no thanks. I don't like guns or violence. Car chase scene...yawwwwn.

4. Have you ever looked around you and thought “this is like a scene from a movie”? What were the circumstances?

I have a few times, but I cannot remember. Which is very much like movies, I see them and often enjoy them but don't remember much about them. My memory has turned to shit!

5. Have you ever looked at a character in a movie and said, “Hey, that could be me”? Who/what was the character?

Yes. See the movie "Bella Martha" ("Mostly Martha", 2001). At one time in my life, that was exactly me. The film is a German romantic comedy drama and VERY good.

"When a headstrong chef takes charge of her equally stubborn 8-year-old niece, the tensions between them mount... until an Italian sous-chef arrives to lighten the mood."

If you watched the Mostly Martha trailer, I will tell you that I am still learning to let someone else "stir the pot" and when I do life is so much smoother, sweeter, and better.

Bonus: Have you ever been in pictures–Hollywood film, porno, homemade video, or other type of film? Tell us about it. …and is it on YouTube :D

I did make a short clip of my ex b.f. and I having one of our ANR sessions. It's sweet, intimate and you see our joy. No, it is not on youtube.

Well, now I know how old you are! :P I watched the trailer...I rarely watch movies, but I'm sure I've seen this exact same story, but with Catherine Zeta Jones - maybe a remake for the American market?

Hedone said...

@V: That was a "loose" remake. I saw that movie and someone had to tell me it was a remake. The Catherine Zeta Jones film (No Reservations) was awful as a stand alone film, and ruined a good film if you consider it a remake.

Fair enough...I just recognized the storyline, being a foodie. I'm going to see if I can find Mostly Martha and watch it soon.

Good answers! Jill almost went with Katharine Hepburn, but chose Lauren Bacall at the last minute. Sanaa Lathan is hot, and I think she's a good choice for you. And your life sounds pretty exciting. I like the blend of comedy, mystery and drama as it must keep things interesting. Your points about boring, unsexy love scenes is well-said. I went with the love scene, myself - with a few caveats to keep said love scene from being bland and mainstream - but I like a good argument (not in real life, though), and realistically I should have said this. As a sometime writer, I find myself writing a lot of arguments and other serious dramatic dialogue, and then reading it. So technically speaking I've already done this. But it wasn't filmed and no one saw me do it. Thanks for the Bella Martha recommendation. We'll try and track it down.

"[...]except that she's 21 years older than i."

Wow, that makes you almost my age! For some reason, I thought you were much younger. It must be the way you write and present yourself.

And Helen Mirren would still be an excellent choice!

Great answers...and I have to say EXCELLENT choice with Sanaa Lathan. She's so beautiful, so sexy. I've loved her since Love & Basketball.

@Tom Allen: Most people think I am about 10 years younger than I am, including KinkyGent when he met me. Depending on what I'm wearing, some people think younger...LOL. At Salsa class people thought KG was practically robbing the cradle. A pole dancing the girls all had to pick their mouths up off the floor when they found out my age. They thought I was in my late 20s or early 30s. LOL LOL. Oh how I love them :-)

@GoodWill: I'm a Sanaa fan too. She's a good actor we just don't get to see enough of her.

@Jack: Mostly Martha is on Netflix, but I think DVD only. Let me know how you like it.

Ooooh isn't she the girl who played in Tyler Perry's the Family that Preys.. I LOVE HER she is gorgeous and I would do her in a flipping heart beat and NOT share with hubby.
I had fun with this one as well.

Nice Answers ... I'll have to watch Mostly Martha. I actually liked No Reservations so I'm curious to see this.

I love Helen Mirren, she's so regal and sexy.

Lovely answers and I agree recognized the storyline immediately when I saw it and Mostly Martha looks a lot better then the Hollywood version. (they suck at remakes most of the time)

Hedone said...

@Gillian Colbert: Thanks for stopping

@Rose: Thank you. And I agree, Hollywood takes fantastic movies and Americanizes them but why does that translate into meaningless fluff?

Everyone: Mostly Martha is available on Netflix. I got the DVD. I don't think it can streamed.

It looks like Mostly Martha can be streamed on Amazon.com

I love Katherine Hepburn, Laana, and Helen. All terrific choices.

I so badly want to see Mostly Martha, but they don't have it on netflix. I'll have to rent DVD.

Hedone said...

TS99: It is on Netflix, it doesn't stream you have to get the DVD (I just had it a month ago). If you want to stream go to Amazon. Look at my comment above.
